Planting Seeds of Intention

It's Spring! So what better time to plant some seeds! I'm not talking about the seeds that sprout into flowers...although plant some of those beauties too! I'm talking about seeds of intention! Now is as good a time as any! We can take our inspiration from Mother Nature as the seeds that have been in the earth throughout the winter are now starting to surface and bloom, bringing beautiful colors and smells into our days! We will forgive the sneezing that comes along with all those blooms!
So as you go about your day, I invite you to start to let those ideas that have been dormant or percolating throught that past season to start to bubble up! How do we do that? Well, everyone is different, but here is a few ways I do that, that help me to grow those ideas into action!
Journal! I have a blog a few posts back with 5 journal prompts for Spring, if you want some inspiration. But the key is just to write down your thoughts and ideas. You will find that certain themes rise to the top for you. Then you take those and start to create intentions.
Write down a brainstorm list of ways you can bring your intentions to fruition. For instance, if you have intentions of getting together with friends more often, make a list of people you want to see, near and far. Write them all down. We will figure out how/when you will see them next! If you want to travel, make a list of adventures, from small day trips to a big European tour!
Prioritize your brainstorm list from easiest to accomplsh to more challenging. I find that if I can accomplish a few of my intention actions right away, it motivates me to for the more challenging ones! If I want to catch up with friends more often, I will first schedule a "porch date" with my girlfriend next door this weekend because that's going to be easier than getting together with my high school bestie across the country! Then start planning for the ones that take a little more effort. Give yourself time and a plan to get those accomplished!
Finally, put it in your calendar! If you don't use one, I highly recommend it! We all have one on our phones/computers, etc. You can always adjust and change it if needed, but if it's in your calendar, whether it's a digital one or a paper one, you are more likely to stick with that plan.
Now, stick with it! A small baby step every day will help you keep in touch with and nurture your intentions this season. Just like watering a plant, it takes a little dedication and diligence, but it can be done! Don't give up!
