Fake it Til You Make it!

francofamily4

Research has discovered the fact that simply by using the "smiling musicles" of our face can trigger dopamine and seratonin - the chemicals that produce happiness! So we can ignite a feeling of happiness just by putting on a smile, whether we feel the joy at first or not. We can, in fact, fake it til we make it, aka: happiness!

Why don't you bring power of smiling into your mindfulness journey this week?!

Try integrating the following practices into your daily routine:

1. Mindfulness Practices

  • Gratitude Journaling: Start or end your day by jotting down three things you’re grateful for. This often brings a smile to your face and helps you focus on the positives in your life.

  • Mindful Breathing with a Smile: As you practice deep breathing, try to smile gently. Notice how this small adjustment can shift your mood and enhance your feelings of relaxation.

2. Creative Exercises

  • Expressive Art: Engage in a creative activity, like painting or doodling, while focusing on themes of happiness. Let your smile be your muse and see where your creativity takes you!

  • Playful Movement: Dance like nobody’s watching! Movement, paired with a smile, can release endorphins and elevate your mood. Whether it’s a quick jig in your living room or a walk in nature, let your smile guide your steps.

  • Mindful Walking: While walking, focus on the sensations in your body and the world around you. Now, add a smile to your practice! Notice how it feels to smile at passing pedestrians, or even at the trees and flowers around you. This simple act can foster a sense of connection with your environment and lift your spirits.

  • Yoga with a Smile: Incorporate a gentle smile during your yoga practice. As you move through poses, let your smile reflect your inner joy and gratitude for your body’s abilities. It can transform your practice into a more uplifting experience.

As always, let me know how it goes!
